Bibliotherapy and Psychotherapy

"Let the words work on you
let them be free
they’ll enter you they’ll come inside
makers of forms upon forms
they’ll start up in you that same experience."

                       From: Let the Words by Yona Wallach, translated by Linda Zisquit

Bibliotherapy

Bibliotherapy is a form of art therapy which originated from psychodynamic theories, and in which text, in varied form and content (story, poem, picture, film, dream etc') is used and facilitated by the bibliotherapist, in a therapeutic manner. Writing and reading processes can be integrated into the sessions and utilised for the benefit of the patient.

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is aimed at improving the mental health and well-being of individuals through the relationship between the therapist and the client. The underling idea is that expressing thoughts, emotions and sensations through speech is therapeutic. Through psychodynamic psychotherapy we can get to better know our conscious and unconscious mind, in order to help us deal better and more constructively with our difficulties, distress and challenges.

How Does it work?

Various texts ’enter‘ the sessions. The patient is invited to relate to the texts and express (through speech, writing, drawing, etc‘) the thoughts, emotions and sensations which are aroused in them. During therapy, it will be possible to gradually work out and work through whatever comes up in a therapeutic and growth promoting manner.
